The 3R Foundation
Redirect | Rebuild | Restore
Mission Statement: To support the Akron community through a collaboration of resources.
Vision Statement: Redirect, Rebuild and Restore hope for the lost, condemned and forgotten.
The 3R Foundation-Redirect, Rebuild and Restore was organized in 2021 as a 501(C)(3). In support of and response to men and women looking to leave a felony or misdemeanor behind, we are very active in Re-entry. We understand that as times change, people change and one’s history does not define one’s future. We are very successful in bringing together community resources to help men and women with employment, housing and other barriers they may face while working toward a meaningful future. The first project of The 3R Foundation was to publish the book, The Hell and Back Gang…Hope for the Lost, Condemned and Forgotten that chronicles the lives of eight Akron residents who found their way back to society thanks to the grace of God and support of our community. This book is distributed free as inspiration to those looking for help and to local agencies and churches. Copies are available upon request.
Guided by the Akron Community Foundation and their plea for collaboration among agencies, The 3R Foundation launched Better Together! This highly successful endeavor brings together over fifty community organizations and resources with various goals …a hands on gathering of “who is who” in the Akron community. Meeting monthly, it is about developing relationships, providing collaborative support and help to the “lost, condemned and forgotten”. Over 180 people have attended one or more of our meetings over the last four years making us the largest in person monthly gathering of advocates addressing the needs of our community.
Without question, lack of sustainable income and the struggle to control expenses leads to chaos and uncertainty, and so the Financial Roadmap Initiative was born. Supported by local businesses, community leaders and facilitated by financial experts who generously volunteer their time, The 3R Foundation presents a four week class addressing the following: identifying personal expenses, understanding debt and the meaning of credit scores, how to approach major financial decisions and building a budget. This is another collaborative program highlighting both our Mission and Vision Statements.
A new life changing career opportunity offered by The 3R Foundation for those interested in becoming a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) was launched in late 2025. Our collaboration with partners at MedCert in Highland Square and Stark State College on East Market Street presents a valuable opportunity…especially for those currently working as a home health aide. A home health aide often experiences an erratic and inconsistent schedule with limited income. STNA certification provides an added measure of stability with regular hours and a stable income. This is a career opportunity in the health care field and not just a job…one that will not be replaced by artificial intelligence.
The 3R Foundation believes in long term solutions while addressing short term needs. In a process of thorough vetting, we REDIRECT lives away from cycles of hardship, REBUILD self-worth and RESTORE a sense of hope. With an empathetic and understanding ear for those we serve and in partnership with community employers, collaborative social agencies, churches and other community resources, we offer opportunities and encouragement leading to the ultimate goal…a sustainable future rather than the chaos of the moment!
